Best electric and handheld foot files
Looking after your feet entails a lot more than just having pretty painted toenails. While doing a pedicure is beneficial, you have to look deeper. Our feet can easily become dry because we don’t see them close-up like we do our hands. Dry feet can lead to callus build-up and cracks.
There are a couple of things you can do at home to prevent and treat dry and cracked feet, which I wrote about. Some products can help make your feet look beautiful. One big thing that you’ll need when struggling with dry and cracked feet is a foot file or some type of foot exfoliator.
Knowing which one to buy can become a bit challenging when you see how many different foot files there are. Please note that if you have seriously cracked heels that bleed and are painful, consider seeking medical help.

What you should look for in a foot file
There are many different types of foot files, and gadgets, so it might be a bit challenging to know what will work best for your needs. One thing to always remember is that you should steer clear of things like foot rasps and callus shavers. It is not healthy to use these tools continually. You can also cause serious damage to your feet when you don’t know what you’re doing. If you think you might need something drastic like that, see a podiatrist.
Some pedicure kits I listed previously already include foot files, but most of them come with foot rasps or callus shavers. It’s best to just dispose of them and only use the foot file that comes with the kit.
Buying a foot file depends on what you need and how severe your feet are. There are electric foot files that make filing easier and handheld foot files. Handheld foot files can be one-use or with removable paper, and stainless steel. It is always a good idea to go for something like stainless steel as it can be sterilized in between uses and can be used for a long time.
Should you file your feet wet or dry
It is believed to be better to soak your feet for a bit before filing. Not only will soaking your feet make the dead skin soft and more visible(dead skin will turn white), but it will minimize the risk of you accidentally tearing in some skin or hurting yourself. Read this article on the best foot spa’s before you go shopping.
Remember to always file your feet gently, even if you have severely dry and cracked feet. Your feet should not feel sensitive after you’re done.
